Plant care
Light:
Bird of Paradise prefers to stay in a bright, warm spot where they can receive partial or full sunlight. Otherwise, you can leave them in a southern, western, or eastern exposure at least four hours a day. If the perennial plant does not receive enough sunlight or moisture the flowers will usually fail to develop.

Water:
Birds of Paradise enjoy moist (but not soggy) and well drained soil. Please let it dry out between waterings in order to avoid overwatering. Allow the top 2" - 3" of the soil to become dry, but below that should remain moist. These plants do particularly well in our self watering containers.

Fertiliser
Regular fertilizing with products such as Troforte and Organic Link will produce lush, colourful growth.

Humidity
These bird of paradise varieties grow well in warm, cold, frosty and humid climates of Australia. The best time to plant them is mid October.

Pet friendliness
The bird of paradise strelitzia is poisonous to dogs, cats and most other household pets when eaten, so you want to be sure that they are not able to nibble at the plant. The plant is not toxic to human beings if ingested
